The March of Seaside Retreat Continues

Now, I feel like I had to nag Debi into picking colors for the downstairs.  Because it's basically one big space in the front of the house with rooms in the back, the choice of colors for the entryway would dictate the choices in the living room and stairwell.  Given that the house is SO dark and the furniture is dark to match, we feared a struggle as we went through pairs of colors to find a complementary pair that would brighten things up and not force us to buy new furniture immediately.

When you start with this:

sometimes you should just feel like ANYTHING is an improvement, right?

Well, we did advance to this:

We went two tone in advance of a chair rail going in: a functional and decorative trim option.  We'll likely take the blue [actually "Seaside Villa"] up the stairs and continue the color scheme through the living room [which is behind the camera's POV].

The chair rail will likely go in next weekend and we'll wait a bit before moving on the opther rooms downstairs.  Hopefully we'll start working on upstairs doors soon.

I feel like I'm at the end of the beginning now that we've gotten two areas of the house under the same design pattern.  We want to work on decorating the house as well but art is a lower priority.
