The Johnson County Taupe is Finally Gone

The Fourth of July Weekend was dominated by two events: painting the living room and attending Dan and Hillary's wedding.

At least one of these events was a success.  We selected Seaside Villa and Fishnet [blue and green, respectively] for the top and bottom of the walls which we'll separate with chair rails.  We then used the Seaside Villa to paint the stairwell and Fishnet in a downstairs hallway that's visible from the Family Room so the colors all tie together nicely.

The door for the room over the garage should be in next week so we can take care of that.  Hopefully we can get a couple more doors upstairs taken care of at the same time, replacing the tired flat slab doors with doors that have more character.  We had talked about installing a bunch of solid core doors but the pre-hung hollow core doors are so inexpensive that we will likely end up sticking with them.  More on that in the next couple of weeks.

We still want to get more art to fill out the house and I'm working with some artistically minded friends to get some pictures done.  We still have the kitchen to paint and furnish but the inside of the house is starting to come together.

Thanks Valspar!
